芝加哥大學 (The University of Chicago) 科學史博士，現任中央研究院近代史研究所研究員兼所長。專長為傳統醫療與公共衛生史（近代中國與台灣）、科技史與身體史、科技與社會研究。曾獲科技部傑出研究獎 (104 年度)、中央研究院人文及社會科學學術性專書獎（第四屆）。著有 Neither Donkey nor Horse: Meidicne in the Struggle over China's Modernity (Chicago: the University of Chicago Press, 2014)等專書、學術期刊論文數十篇。
